Fire Retardant Silicone in a Gazebo: Confirm the Joint Assembly

Vitcas Fire Retardant Silicone cartridge for specified joints

A service joint in a gazebo can have a different purpose from a joint beside a firebox. Establish whether the detail needs fire protection, weather resistance or operation at a particular temperature. These requirements may occur together, but they describe different properties.

Record the partition and penetration

Show the wall material, service and joint geometry on a drawing. Where fire protection is required, use documentation for the specified assembly. A general product name does not establish performance for every diameter, depth or type of service.

Vitcas Fire Retardant Silicone is a neutral silicone for specified fire protection joints and seals. A stated protection period applies under the documented assembly conditions; it cannot be assigned to the cartridge alone regardless of installation.

Check operating temperature separately

The product data sheet gives an operating temperature of 150°C. This is a different measurement from performance during a fire. Do not use the two interchangeably or choose the material for direct flame exposure solely because its name refers to fire protection.

Heat Resistant Silicone has separate applications in suitable hot, flexible joints. It does not automatically replace a specified fire protection seal. Select either product according to the actual purpose of the joint.

Prepare the installation and inspection

Check surface preparation, joint width and depth, backing material and expected movement. Fill the detail according to the documented solution, rather than packing every available space with silicone.

Record the product and installation conditions, with photographs before enclosing the joint. Keep the assembly documentation. If the service is changed later, reassess the seal: adding more silicone does not establish that the modified penetration retains its previous performance.
