Flue Cement is used when the flue connection is intended to be sealed with cement. If the system requires a factory gasket or a joint allowing thermal movement, cement is not a substitute for this solution. Therefore, start the selection from the duct instructions, not from the product name itself.
What is the function of chimney cement?
Vitcas Flue Cement in cartridge is a product for appropriate flue pipe connections. Its role is to make an approved joint between properly assembled elements. It should not compensate for a different pipe diameter, flange deformation, or missing support.
Before purchase, check the materials of the joined parts, temperature, and operating conditions, including possible contact with condensate. If the application for a given system cannot be confirmed, a different seal or installer assessment is required.
Three questions before disconnecting the pipe
- Does the documentation provide for cement, a gasket, or a connection without additional compound?
- Are the parts complete, dimensionally correct, and properly supported?
- Was the old joint damaged once, or does the problem recur after each heating?
The answer to the last question is particularly important. A regularly opening gap may indicate movement of the components or improper assembly. Adding more cement does not remove the cause in this case.
Preparation and inspection of the connection
Work is carried out on a cold appliance. After exposing the connection, dust, soot, and residues of old material must be removed, and the condition of the edges checked. Apply and perform the initial heating according to the label of the specific product. Maintain the required insertion of parts and cable fastening.
External weld inspection does not confirm the full tightness of the system. The scope of inspection should be determined by the system documentation and carried out by a person with the appropriate competence. Traces of smoke or corrosion require determining the cause before use. BLACK Fire Cement also has its own limitations; products are not selected interchangeably solely because both contain cement in their name.
