The HT fireboard can be part of an appropriate enclosure, but by itself does not determine a safe installation behind a firebox. In an outdoor kitchen, both wall heating and moisture, precipitation, and method of installation must be considered. Selection does not end with reading the temperature from the product name.
Check the location and complete layout
Vitcas HT Fireboard is a gypsum-free board, described, among other things, for suitable walls and interior applications. The manufacturer states resistance up to 650°C and water resistance. This information does not constitute a design for any frost-exposed cladding.
Before ordering, present the substrate, weather protection, and planned finish. Confirmation should concern the entire system, including edges and fastenings. Pay particular attention to areas where water might get behind the board, despite a covered countertop.
The board does not dictate clearance from wood
If there is wood, building insulation, or other heat-sensitive material behind the cladding, device requirements and cladding construction are necessary. The material class does not mean that the wall on the other side will remain cold. Do not omit the intended space or ventilation simply by adding the board.
Mark on the drawing the heat source, distances, and paths of adjacent layers. For a prefabricated barbecue, follow the manufacturer's assembly guidelines. Changing its cover should not remove access to connections or openings needed during operation.
Select the fastening to the substrate
The board requires proper support and connections. Vitcas HB60 has specific applications with suitable boards and assemblies, including external ones. However, it does not replace checking the weight, substrate, type of connection, or mechanical fastenings intended for a given cover.
Before finishing, inspect the corners, connections, and edge by the countertop. Take photos of the fastenings and record the selected material for each element. Such documentation will later allow you to assess changes in conditions instead of choosing a repair solely based on the appearance of a cracked surface.
